Under the guidance of international enologist Alberto Antonini, the team at Bodegas GarzĆ³n apply this philosophy focused on producing wines that are a true expression of their origins.
Close to the Uruguayan Atlantic coast and at 160 meters above sea level, the vineyards give a unique quality to the grapes which, along with the temperate weather and the organic practices developed in the vineyard, allow each wine to reflect the authentic personality of the GarzĆ³n terroir.
The geology in the GarzĆ³n area belongs to what is known as Crystalline Basement sedimentary rock, which gave origin to the oldest soils in the planet over 2.5 billion years ago. When those rocks are broken down through millions of years of geological activity, a fantastic soil of weathered rock is formed, called Ballast. The characteristics of this soil, the tending to individual plots (over 1,000), and the careful management of the harvest, yields fruit of unparallelled quality.
